The director recently revealed that she and Zayn had met up to discuss working together on a film project, as he has a background in acting.

"We've met and spoken. He trained as an actor first then became part of the band," Gurinder told the Daily Mirror. "So I think what he'll be doing is staying true to his heart – and that's all you can ever do."

However she admitted she doesn't have a role planned for him yet.

"I don't have a part in mind for Zayn just yet but hopefully in the future."

Zayn Malik and Gurinder Chadha also met up at the Asian Awards

The pair were first spotted talking at the Asian Awards in April, which was Zayn's first public appearance since he announced his decision to leave One Direction at the end of March. The singer has since kept a relatively low profile, but recently broke his Twitter silence to thank fans for their support in recent weeks.

"Wanna say thanks to everyone that's been there for me over the last few weeks, love you all.. you know who you are x" he wrote.

Following his departure from the band, Zayn told The Sun that he's "never felt more control" in his life, and suggested that he was just going to "chill" for a while until he decided what to do next.

However it appears he is keeping his options open, and has also been working on solo music with his friend, music producer Naughty Boy.
