Sofia Vergara has broken her silence on former fiancé Nick Loeb's fight to use embryos they created together then froze, saying that his lawsuit "makes no sense". A child "needs a loving relationship of parents that get along, that don't hate each other," the actress said during an interview with Howard Stern on Monday. "I don't hate him but obviously he has a problem. A kid needs parents. I wouldn't want to bring kids to the world where it's already set against them. It would be so selfish."
Sofia Vergara with her ex Nick Loeb
Sofia's comments come after Nick wrote an op-ed for the New York Times, outlining his decision to try and gain control of two frozen embryos the couple created before their split in May 2014, and stating that he wants to implant them in a surrogate and become a single father.
Though he's not alleging that his ex is actively trying to destroy the embryos, he writes that he wants to preserve them at all costs. The Modern Family star, who is already a mum to 22-year-old son Manolo from a previous relationship, confirmed she had not read Nick's op-ed, adding that her publicist had told her not to because "it makes no sense".She also argued that Nick's plans would violate contracts that both had signed. "You sign papers," Sofia stated. "If it was so serious for him, this issue, which I totally respect because it's serious, then you should've taken it more seriously at the time.Sofia says the former couple had contracts drawn up twice and reviewed.
"And now you want to change your mind? You have to follow what you sign," she continued, adding that she is not worried about a judge siding with Nick.
