Seventy-two-year-old actress Blythe Danner has opened up about how great her daughter, actress Gwyneth Paltrow, is. Blythe was on The Today show in America on Wednesday when she was asked about her daughter's public persona.

"I know that she's the most extraordinary girl who can do everything. Incredible mother! She's raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for my husband's oral cancer foundation—things she doesn't talk about a lot," said Blythe.

"She's becoming a great environmentalist. I'm so proud of her," she gushed. "I think she's so accomplished that people get kind of intimidated by it. Great cook, great mom, great actress."

She added: "And my son is pretty fabulous, too! A great writer."

Blythe was promoting her new film, I'll See You In My Dreams, the premiere of which Gywneth attended on Friday with her new boyfriend, Brad Falchuk. With Gwyneth in LA and her son Jake Paltrow living in New York, Blythe also revealed how lucky she was to see both her children on Mother's Day.

"I was traveling both coasts. I went from L.A. where they are to New York where my son and his wife and little baby girl are. I was very lucky to have the whole family within 24 hours," she said.

Gwyneth also opened up on the perceived polarising aspects of her personality in March, when she admitted: "I see myself as an actor and a mother, and an entrepreneur. I don't see myself as a guru."

After being asked if she felt close to the 'common woman', Gwyneth revealed: "I am incredibly close to the common woman, in that I am a woman and a mother."

She continued: "We are all in a physical body with beating hearts with compassion and love. We are all seekers, we all want questions, we want fulfilment, we want to live our best lives, and be happy and healthy, and squeeze the best out of life. I think that's all women."
