Katie Piper may have been back in hospital for more throat surgery on Wednesday, but she still had reason to smile. The inspiring star said that she was the "happiest patient going down to theatre" after hearing that her show BodyShockers had been nominated for a TV Choice Award.
The mum-of-one shared a smiling "hospital selfie" of herself dressed in a hospital gown as she prepared for surgery, telling her followers: "Apologise now because I cannot for the life of me take a selfie! But this is my hospital selfie this morning – back in to have a procedure to put a stent into my throat but am very happy as whilst here received the news that BodyShockers has been nominated for a TV Choice Award!!
"I've never been nominated for an award that isn't directly related back to me – this is a first!" she added, before urging for her followers to vote for the show to win. "Think I'm the happiest patient going down to theatre today."
Katie has maintained a positive attitude despite being in and out of hospital for throat surgery after complications arose during an initial operation in March.
The 31-year-old was having scar tissue removed which remained from a 2008 acid attack by her ex-boyfriend, which resulted in her being placed in an induced coma in intensive care.
Katie's happy post came just hours after she hit back at online bullies who said her face was "terrifying". She shared a screenshot of an offensive article with her Instagram feed, and urged people to think about what they post on social media.
"For some people social media doesn't feel like interacting with real people," she wrote. "99% of the time I think before I hit post and often delete before I post. If it isn’t how you would conduct yourself face to face offline then don't post it."
