Sheridan Smith was honoured for her services to drama
During their brief conversation, Sheridan discovered that the Prince is a fan of her TV work, much to her delight. "He said he'd seen some of my work, which is amazing," she said. "And [he said he] was a fan of Gavin And Stacey."And I congratulated him on his wonderful children and he shook my hand and I was shaking – it's all a bit of a blur. It was a huge honour and I will absolutely treasure this, I can't quite believe it."
In December, when it was announced that she was to be made an OBE, Sheridan said she was "overwhelmed" to have been named on the Queen's New Year's honours list."I'm sincerely thankful and humbled to be recognised with such an honour," she said. "I'm overwhelmed and hope to continue doing the work that I love for many years to come. "Once the new had been made public, the Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps star took to Twitter to thank her fans for their congratulatory messages. "Finally... I can thank you for your lovely messages!" she wrote. "All extremely surreal I know but thank you to those of you for your kind support. Huge love!"

Sheridan is no stranger to meeting royalty. Just three months ago she attended a reception at Buckingham Palace attended by the Queen, Prince Edward and the Countess of Wessex. The screen star couldn't quite contain her excitement as she was introduced to the 89-year-old monarch in the Palace's ballroom and was pictured eagerly shaking hands with the royal.Sheridan later joked on Twitter that actor and comedian Matt Lucas had helped her refrain from hugging the Queen. "I know many fabulous queens!" she posted on Twitter. "But tonight I met THE queen. She's adorable and if I hadn't have been arrested I'd have hugged her #unforgettable."
