Caitlyn Jenner surprises transgender teens with a visit

Caitlyn Jenner made the brave decision to let the world follow her transition to becoming a woman – and in a bid to help other transgender people, the inspirational star paid a visit to young people who are battling similar issues.

Caitlyn stopped by the LGBT Center's Youth Center in Los Angeles for a few hours, where she surprised a small group of teenagers.

"They were really excited to meet her," a source told E! News. "Caitlyn was really friendly and even referenced Miley Cyrus' visit to the centre. She also brought some clothes for them."

Miley, who is a known LGBT supporter and a big fan of Caitlyn, visited the centre back in January to talk about HIV/AIDS prevention.

During Caitlyn's visit on Tuesday, she met the teens who "talked to her about their experiences, what they were going through and how the centre is helping them".

"Caitlyn also gave her personal cell phone number out to four men who are in the process of transitioning and told them they can call her anytime if they have questions, because she wants to be a resource to them if need be," a second source told Hollywood Life.

The star toured the facility, which receives about 100 young visitors a day, and also dropped off a donation to the centre's clothes closet where youth can access clean, second-hand clothing.

Caitlyn was particularly interested to hear about the facility's Transgender Economic Empowerment Project, which helps transgender men and women – who experience unemployment at twice the rate of the national US population – thrive in the workplace.

Before leaving Caitlyn, who lives in nearby Malibu and was formerly known as Bruce Jenner, said that she planned to visit again.

The youth centre in California helps young people who are currently facing homelessness, by providing them with meals, clothing, support groups and job training among other services.
