Mark Wright and Michelle Keegan swim with sharks on honeymoon

June 12, 2015

Newlyweds Michelle Keegan and Mark Wright had a close encounter with some hammerhead sharks during their Dubai honeymoon - and they didn't even know about it. Television presenter Mark shared a photo from a scuba diving trip on Instagram, telling fans they hadn't been aware that the shark was behind them.

"Now I know why the camera man stopped us turning around!! Just had this sent to me @michkeegan we never knew #hammerhead," Mark captioned the photo.

Mark and Michelle did the dive in the 11 million litre Ambassador Lagoon at the Atlantis hotel at The Palm in Dubai. The five-star resort is home to over 65,000 marine animals including baby stingrays, lobsters and piranhas, as well as the hammerhead sharks that swam close to the new Mr and Mrs Wright.

The newlyweds ended their honeymoon in style by spending their last night in a beautiful underwater suite at the hotel, which offered a view of the incredible lagoon. The loved-up pair shared pictures from their luxurious room, which comes with a price tag of just over £5,000 per night.

Mark and Michelle have since returned home after a honeymoon they have described as "magical". The couple have already gone back to work with Mark sharing a photo of himself on the back of a motorbike en route to Heart FM radio studios, while Michelle reminisced about their romantic two-part honeymoon in her latest blog post for HELLO! Online.

"After four and a bit days in the beautiful Maldives, we left to go to the place where it all began for us – Dubai," she wrote. "We both love it there, and were joined the last few days by some of our family which was such a treat!"

The happy couple are expected to make their first public appearance as a married couple at a nightclub in Windsor on Friday night, with Mark tweeting that he was "excited for a night out".
