Stephen Fry has revealed he and husband Elliott Spencer have talked about having children together. The 57-year-old, who tied the knot in January, admitted he would have to act soon if he did want to become a father.

"We sort of talk about it and I suddenly think, 'Oh my goodness I'm such an age now', but actually that's rather good, but we better get on with it if we do," Stephen told Kirsty Young on Desert Island Discs.

The QI presenter also revealed how he is adjusting to life as a married man.

"I'm still very much in the honeymoon phase. I think we both are, I hope so, and new and miraculous things have happened in our culture and I wanted to celebrate that and what better way than to be married.

"It's bliss, I do carry a ridiculous beam on my face."

The comedian continued to describe his new husband as the "great love of my life" while dedicating the Ella Fitzgerald song Do I Love You to him.

The couple got married in January

Stephen surprised fans when he married 27-year-old Elliott in Norfolk on 17 January, just days after announcing their engagement. The couple enjoyed an extended three-month working honeymoon together and have been vocal about their love for one another despite some comment about the 30-year age gap between them.

"I don't care what people think, Stephen is the love of my life, the light of my life," Elliott told The Mirror in February, adding that humour is what brought them together.

While Stephen and Elliott are thinking about starting a family now, they previously dismissed reports that they had any "baby plans" when asked by a fan on Twitter at the beginning of the year.

"No – don't believe what you read in the papers!" Stephen replied.
