Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris replace Beyoncé and Jay Z as highest-earning couple

June 26, 2015

As a couple they were an immediate favourite, gaining popularity almost as instantly as one of her hit tunes. Now Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris have another reason to celebrate. The young lovers have been declared the highest-earning duo in the world by Forbes with combined earnings of $146million – dethroning last year's best-paid couple Beyoncé and Jay Z.

Taylor's fifth studio album 1989 sold a million copies in its first week last year

Not that Queen Bey and her husband have any real money worries, since their earnings for 2014-15 were $110.5 million. Coming in third are the king and queen of country music Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert with $57million.

The romance between Taylor and her hunky 6ft 5in Scotsman has been going on since about February when they were introduced at an awards ceremony.

Every day brings another sign of their mutual devotion. Calvin has been supporting the 25-year-old songbird through her mother's cancer battle and is always happy to hang out with her large posse of famous girl pals. He is the barbecuer-in-chief at their parties, according to Ellie Goulding who praised his culinary skills recently.

Calvin earned millions through music production and his Armani underwear campaign

Meanwhile, the Scottish über-DJ is currently pet-sitting for the pop princess while she is travelling the globe for her 1989 world tour.

He shared a video of Taylor's cat Meredith Grey drinking water from a tap on Instagram on Saturday.

While Calvin did not caption the video, fans quickly worked out that it was his girlfriend's pet. "Omg you're taking care of Tay's cat? So cute," one fan tweeted.
