Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are divorcing after ten years of marriage
"We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time. This will be our only comment on this private, family matter. Thank you for understanding. "Ben and Jennifer, who married in 2005, have three children together, Violet, nine, Seraphina, six, and three-year-old Samuel.
During the past weeks the Hollywood couple have been surrounded by split rumours but the pair ignored reports and have kept busy with their work commitments.
Jennifer has been filming comedy Nine Lives in Montreal while Ben has been shooting Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice.
The mother-of-three, 43, has been open about how difficult it is to balance marriage with the demands of a young family in the past.
"You just go on a ride together because you don't know who you're going to be when you first have a baby and you don't know who [your partner] is going to be," she told Yahoo! Parenting last month. She continued: "You have to just hang in there while you figure it out — and have a lot of patience for each other."
