Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner flew to the Bahamas with their children as their divorce was announced on Tuesday. The couple, who were married for ten years, reportedly wanted to be together as a family when the news broke.
"They were together as a family that day," a source told People. "The family felt it was important to be together and they were together. The family is united and, no matter what, will protect the kids.
"This isn't easy for anyone and it's devastating to Ben too. He loves his family and will always put them first."

The couple have three children together; Violet, nine, Seraphina, six, and three-year-old Samuel. Despite their break-up the couple appear determined to remain on good terms for the sake of their children and are continuing to live together in their home in California for the time being as they plan to share custody.
While Jennifer reportedly appeared in "good spirits" during the getaway on Wednesday, a source told Page Six that Ben "looked more grey than usual".
The Batman star is said to be "devastated" by the split after trying to save his relationship with Jennifer for months.

"He's devastated. Nobody intented to go down this path," a source told People. "They both battled, and he really battled to try and save the marriage but ultimately it was the best thing for the kids and for him and Jen."
Ben and Jennifer announced their split on Tuesday after months of speculation about their relationship. The couple revealed the news in a joint statement. "After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce.
"We go forward with love and friendship for one another and commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time. This will be our only comment on this private, family matter. Thank you for understanding."
