Ben Affleck is adjusting to life as a single man after announcing his divorce from Jennifer Garner.
The father-of-three was seen without his wedding ring on a solo outing to Starbucks in Los Angeles on Sunday after returning from a family holiday in the Bahamas.
The former couple had travelled to their home in the Baker's Bay resort with their children – Violet, nine, Seraphina, six and three-year-old Samuel – so they could all be together when their divorce was announced on 30 June.
"They were together as a family that day," a source told People. "The family felt it was important to be together and they were together. The family is united and, no matter what, will protect the kids.
"This isn't easy for anyone and it's devastating to Ben too. He loves his family and will always put them first."
Despite his distress at the break-up, it appears Ben is keen to return focus to his career and broke his Twitter silence on Monday to discuss new appointments within the Eastern Congo Initiative – the organisation Ben founded in 2010.
Ben wrote: ".@JohnKerry Thx for appointing Tom Perriello as Special Envoy, Africa Great Lakes & #DRC. @EasternCongo partners look fwd to working w/him."
The actor's return to the social media site attracted scores of comments about his divorce, with one fan writing: "so sorry to hear about you and Jennifer. You were my favourite Hollywood couple," while another tweeted: "Sad for you and your family. Thought you were so good together."
Ben is set to return to work officially on Saturday, when he promotes his upcoming film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice at Comic-Con in San Diego.
Meanwhile Jennifer is believed to have flown to Atlanta with their children to shoot her new film Miracles from Heaven.
The couple announced that they had parted ways on 30 June, just one day after marking their tenth wedding anniversary. In a joint statement they said they will "go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children".
Ben and Jennifer appear to have remained on good times despite the split and are reportedly planning to continue living together on their LA estate to co-parent their children.
