The Canadian actor and his fiancée are quietly enjoying the early days of parenthood after welcoming their first daughter, Briar Rose, in November.
The name is a nod to the classic fairytale Sleeping Beauty; as the fairies shelter Princess Aurora from Maleficent, they name the little girl Briar Rose. It is also the name used in the original Grimm fairytale in 1812.
According to Rachel’s Heart of Dixie co-star, Jaime King, becoming a mum was a dream come true for the 33-year-old actress. "I knew she wanted a baby, she wanted it so badly," Jaime told US Weekly, adding that baby Briar is in "such good hands."
The O.C star has been very active on the social media site after making her debut back in June. Two days after opening the account, Rachel gained 26,600 followers on the photo-sharing site and the picture of her and Hayden garnered over 21,000 likes within 24 hours, her most popular to date.Hayden has been keeping busy working on two new projects, one being the ethereal drama 90 Minutes in Heaven with Kate Bosworth.The Vancouver-born actor is also gearing up to play the titular character in director Rob Cohen’s Marco Polo, a film based on the life of the famous 13th century explorer.Rachel is taking it easy and enjoying quality time with their daughter after Heart of Dixie wasn’t renewed for a fifth season.
