Gwyneth Paltrow has laid bare the truth about co-parenting and admitted that being a divorced parent of two isn't easy. The actress and her ex-husband Chris Martin announced that they were "consciously uncoupling" last year and in April, the pair reportedly filed for divorce.
Gwyneth and Chris, however, still make an effort to do things as a family for the sake of their two children Apple, 11, and Moses, nine.
Speaking at the 2015 BlogHer conference in New York, Gwyneth told attendees: "It's been hard, and you know, like, we've gone through really difficult times with it but we've always said, 'These children are our priority.'"
"We've gone through really difficult times," Gwyneth Paltrow admitted
She added: "What that really means is, 'Even though today, you hate me and you never want to see me again, like, we're going to brunch, because it's Sunday and that's what we'll do.' The children are our commitment."
Gwyneth, who was married to Coldplay frontman Chris for ten years before they announced their split, was quick to note: "I really like him, he's great and a great dad."
The 42-year-old went on to say how "lucky" she felt, given that she and Chris, 38, share the same outlook and have remained "really good friends".
"I really like him, he's great and a great dad," said the actress of her ex-husband Chris Martin
"I think, unfortunately, though we couldn't stay in a romantic relationship, our values are very much around the importance of family and the importance of those relationships and I'm lucky that we're aligned in that way," said Gwyneth.
"We both, along the way, have been able to really put down our own stuff while we're together with the family and we made it a priority to be together so that the transition for the children wasn't, you know, as brutal as it could be."
The ex-couple have put an emphasis on spending quality time with their son and daughter. A month after they reportedly filed for divorce, Gwyneth and Chris took their kids to Disneyland in Los Angeles, ahead of Apple's eleventh birthday.
Onlookers noted that the pair appeared happy in each other's company, as they rode rollercoasters with their children. The family outing also coincided with American Mother's Day.
Gwyneth has been romantically linked to Glee producer Brad Falchuk since August 2014, while Chris is currently dating his on-off girlfriend Jennifer Lawrence.
