Former The Apprentice contestant Stuart Baggs has been found dead at a house on the Isle of Man, it has been confirmed. The promising businessman was discovered by police at a property in Douglas on Thursday morning – just days after he celebrated his 27th birthday.

Stuart had lived on the Isle of Man for most of his life, where he ran a telecommunications company.

A spokesman for the police said that although his death is "sudden and unexpected," there is nothing to indicate that it is "criminally suspicious".

The Apprentice star Stuart Baggs has died aged 27

The Plymouth-born entrepreneur was the youngest ever Apprentice candidate when he appeared on the popular BBC show in 2010 aged 21. Stuart made it to the semi-final before he was fired, losing out on the coveted prize to investment banker Stella English.

While he did not win the show, Stuart was one of the most memorable contestants for his amusing one liners, including: "I'm Stuart Baggs the brand," and "Everything I touch turns to sold."

Lord Alan Sugar led the tributes to Stuart on Twitter on Thursday afternoon, describing the 27-year-old as a "stand out character" from The Apprentice.

"Terrible news Stuart Baggs has died. My sincere condolences to his family and friends RIP one of the stand out characters of The Apprentice," he wrote.

Meanwhile BBC Radio One presenter Matt Edmonson tweeted: "Really sad news about Stuart Baggs. I loved him on The Apprentice and he helped me out with some radio bits too. He was a really nice guy."

Stuart launched his company Bluewave Communications in 2007 and had held a press conference on Tuesday to launch his latest product, a home hub on the Isle of Man.

The following day the proud businessman shared a news story about his creation on Twitter, writing: "Making headlines with our new 4G LTE home broadband network".
