Mike Tindall: 'I'm finally getting my nose fixed'

August 12, 2015

Mike Tindall once ignored the request of his mother-in-law Princess Anne to have his nose straightened, but it appears he may now be ready to go under the knife. The former professional rugby player, who married Zara Phillips in 2011, has revealed that he is "finally getting my nose fixed" after suffering breathing difficulties.

"I don't really want to get it fixed but it looks like I might have to because I can't actually breathe very well. I guess it's something similar to a pug," he told The Mirror. "The problem is that if I get it done, will people say I've had it just because I'm doing TV stuff now? Because it's definitely not."

Mike Tindall says he will get his nose fixed

While Mike is reluctant to have surgery, he explained that his nostrils are now so destroyed that he can only breathe through his mouth, despite having nasal surgery while he was still playing rugby.

Mike first broke his nose when he was five years old, and it has since been broken a further seven times meaning it now sits at a 45 degree angle on his face – something he says leads to him being instantly recognised when out in public with his wife Zara.

"Depending on where we go, getting recognised is actually probably worse for me because of the nose," he revealed.

In fact, Mike's nose is so distinguishable it even has its own Facebook appreciation page, while the Queen reportedly joked to former Irish rugby captain Brian O'Driscoll that his face was in "much better condition" than Mike's.

Mike announced his retirement from rugby in July 2014, and has since gone on to compete on Channel 4 reality show The Jump as well as Bear Grylls' survival show Mission Survive. The 36-year-old recently completed a gruelling quadrathlon in July where he was cheered on by Zara and their 18-month old daughter Mia.
