Calvin Harris has come to the defence of his girlfriend Taylor Swift in a Twitter spat with Zayn Malik. The Scottish DJ was seemingly riled after Zayn retweeted a post critical of Taylor's refusal to stream her music for free on Spotify on Monday night, which gave a quote from Miley Cyrus saying she didn't care about making money.
"The difference is astounding," the original tweet read.
After his attention was drawn to the tweet, Calvin leaped to his girlfriend's defence, tweeting: "You've made your money? Cool…f*** the 99% of musicians who depend on these services to survive, right? Yeah f*** em."

He added: "If you don't get what it means when a successful artist uses their celebrity to benefit every other musician and songwriter in the industry… then stay out of my f***ing mentions."
The DJ added that people criticising Taylor's decision not to stream her music didn't understand the reasons why she had done it – to support fellow musicians who weren't being fairly compensated by Spotify.
Calvin wrote: "While u kids are refresh voting teen choice awards there's some poor f***er in a basement making your new favourite record trying to survive.
"Meaning…stay out of things you don't understand."
However Zayn responded by saying that Calvin had made an "absolute fool" of himself by jumping to conclusions, saying that it had just been a general statement.
"@CalvinHarris ha you just made an absolute fool of yourself mate," he tweeted, adding: "you clearly didn't understand what I just said either.
"So I suggest you calm your knickers before them dentures fall out."

Calvin didn't rise to Zayn's comments, and instead replied that it was the quote that annoyed him and not Zayn personally, adding: "best of luck, genuinely. You've got a great voice."
Meanwhile One Direction fans were shocked when Zayn's former bandmate Louis Tomlinson waded in on the row, and appeared to side with Calvin after adding one of his tweets to his favourites.
Taylor is not the only person Zayn appears to have had a dig at on Twitter in the last few days – he also surprised fans when he retweeted a message to say that girl group Fifth Harmony's new single was better than his ex-fiancée Perrie Edwards' new track with Little Mix.
