Kim Kardashian is the new queen of Instagram. The mum-to-be has taken the lead from Beyoncé Knowles to be named the most followed celebrity on the social networking site, with 44.3 million people signed up to follow Kim's stream of selfies and snaps of her famous family and friends.
Beyoncé broke records when she became the first person to reach 30 million Instagram followers in April, and although she has since acquired over 14 million more fans, she is just shy of Kim's tally at 44.2 million followers.
Kim Kardashian is now the most followed celebrity on Instagram
It's not surprising that both Kim and Beyoncé are both battling it out for the top spot; both give an inside glimpse at their A-List lifestyles including life with their famous spouses, Kanye West and Jay Z, as well as their young daughters, North West and Blue Ivy Carter.
Tech Insider has speculated that the growth of Kim's account is likely because she posts more photos – the reality TV star has uploaded seven photos to the site in the last 24 hours alone. The 34-year-old also writes more personal messages along with her photos, whereas Beyoncé tends to let her pictures do the talking.
Both Kim and Beyoncé have some tough competition from Taylor Swift, who is hot on their heels with a staggering 43.9 million followers. The Shake It Off singer is increasingly popular on the social networking site, no doubt thanks in part to her "squad" of famous friends including Selena Gomez, Karlie Kloss, Gigi Hadid and boyfriend Calvin Harris.

Kim's youngest siblings Kendall and Kylie Jenner also join her in the top ten most followed celebrities; Kendall has 35.6 million followers while Kylie is close behind with 34 million fans.
The list of most followed celebrities on the photo sharing site is predominantly female oriented; Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez and Nicki Minaj also make the top ten, with Justin Bieber and Neymar Jr. the only male celebrities to make the cut.
