Sting has given his estimated £180million net worth an unprecedented boost after selling his London townhouse for an incredible profit. The singer and his wife Trudie Styler have sold the nine-bedroom home for £19million, earning a staggering £13.3million profit.

The couple bought the Grade I townhouse for £5.7million in 2003, meaning they have amassed £1.1million for each year they have owned it – or £3,000 a day.

Sting, real name Gordon Sumner, is said to have reached a deal with the unknown buyer earlier this week after the property was on the market for a year. The house, which is near Downing Street and overlooks St James' Park, sold for more than £4million over the original asking price.

The Fields of Gold singer and his wife own a number of luxurious homes around the world, including a beach front Malibu home and a £17million duplex apartment in Manhattan. They reportedly also own a £2million farmhouse in the Lake District and an 800-acre estate in Wiltshire.

Despite having amassed such an incredible fortune throughout his career, Sting doesn't allow his six children to depend on his earnings to get by.

"I told them there won't be much left because we are spending it," he told the Daily Mail in 2014, adding that he has more than 100 people on his payroll. "We have a lot of commitments. What comes in, we spend, and there isn't much left."

He added that he expects his children to work to earn their own money.

"All my kids know that, and they rarely ask me for anything, which I really respect and appreciate," he said. "Obviously if they were in trouble, I would help them, but I've never really had to do that. They have the work ethic that makes them want to succeed on their own merit."
