Zendaya has been praised for her handling of nasty Twitter trolls, who cruelly labelled her parents "ugly". A photo of the 18-year-old Disney star with her mum and dad – Claire Stoermer and Kazembe Ajamu - was shared on Twitter this week and quickly went viral as it attracted some negative comments. That's when Zendaya stepped in and eloquently shut the trolls down. "While you're so concerned about what my parents look like, please know that they are two of the most selfless people in the world," she wrote.
Zendaya eloquently responded to Twitter trolls who labelled her parents 'ugly'
"They have chosen to live their entire life, not worried about trivial things such as looks and insulting people's parents on Twitter, but instead became educators who have dedicated their lives to teaching, cultivating and filling young shallow minds. (One of the most important yet underpaid jobs we have.)"So please, log out, go to school, hug a teacher, and read a textbook… and while you're at it, go look in the mirror and know that you too are beautiful, because such hateful things only stem from internal struggles. Bless you."It's not the first time Zendaya has spoken out to defend herself and promote positivity.
Earlier this year she responded to Fashion Police host Giuliana Rancic's controversial comments about her Oscars look – Giuliana said Zendaya's dreadlocks made her look like she "(smelled) like patchouli oil… or weed. "The fall-out resulted in co-host Kelly Osbourne leaving the show – but Zendaya rose above the furore and used the opportunity to educate others. "There is already harsh criticism of African American hair in society without the help of ignorant people who choose to judge others based on the curl of the hair," she said. "My wearing hair in locs on an Oscar red carpet was to showcase them in a positive light, to remind people of colour that our hair is good enough."
