Ian Somerhalder has said he can't wait to become a father. The Vampire Diaries star, who tied the knot with actress Nikki Reed in April, opened up about starting a family in a recent interview with Entertainment Online.
"Oh, hell yes! Absolutely," Ian replied when asked if he would like to be a dad. "You know, it's all about practice… It's not practice makes perfect – it's perfect practice. I'm actually pregnant right now!" he joked.
The 36-year-old also opened up about married life, explaining: "It's the most incredible thing to be happy and secure in something. It's a pretty crazy time and place to bring a child into this turbulent and insane world, but I really can't wait to do it."

Ian and Nikki wed in a beautiful sunset ceremony in Santa Monica, California in April following a whirlwind nine-month relationship. The couple appear to still be well and truly in the honeymoon period and have made no secret of their love for one another, with Nikki describing Ian as "the most amazing man" when they announced their engagement in January.
"He's so beautiful inside and out," Nikki said at Sundance Film Festival. "He's quite possibly the most amazing man that's ever walked the planet, it's crazy. I'm so lucky, I love him."
Meanwhile Ian said he was the "luckiest man on the planet" to be married to the Twilight actress.

"My wife. The most beautiful human being in the world," Ian told E! News when asked to share the sexiest thing he first sees when he wakes up in the morning. "I'm the luckiest man on the planet."
The couple started dating in July 2014 following Nikki's split from singer-songwriter Paul McDonald in March, with Ian's Vampire Diaries co-star Kat Graham describing the pair as true "soul mates".
"I haven't met two people that were more of soul mates than these guys," Kat said. "They are so absolutely amazing. Everyone loves them and I really can't imagine him with anyone else."
