Michael Fassbender has split from his girlfriend and former co-star Alicia Vikander, according to a new report. The 38-year-old actor, who has previously said that his longest relationship lasted two years, dated Alicia for around nine months.

The pair met on the set of The Light Between Oceans and immediately hit it off, and in late 2014 they sparked romance rumours. However, Us Weekly claims the couple have parted ways.

Michael and Alicia, 26, made their most recent high-profile appearance at the Monaco Grand Prix in May, where the ex-couple looked happy and affectionate and the Irish hunk was pictured with his arm around his girlfriend.

A month later the pair were photographed in the actress' native Sweden in Stockholm, enjoying a meal out with friends.

Michael, who has famously starred in 12 Years a Slave, Inglorious Basterds and the X-Men series, has a history of romancing his co-stars. The handsome actor has been in a relationship with Zoë Kravitz, whom he met on the set of X-Men: First Class and his Shame co-star Nicole Beharie.

Speaking previously to GQ, Michael admitted that his love life has, on more than one occasion, taken a back seat.

The 38-year-old plays Steve Jobs in the new biopic

"I'm kind of selfish with the hours that I put into the work," he said. "I think the longest relationship that I've been in was two years. I started doing this when I was 17, so I guess in my dating, adult life, that kind of covers it."

The Hollywood star did acknowledge that his recent fame has worked to his advantage. "You become a lot more successful in terms of, like, talking to a girl. She's all of a sudden more interested in me. I know that, like, three years ago, she would've walked away after two sentences left my mouth."

Michael is currently working on new biopic Steve Jobs, in which he plays the eponymous tech legend.
