Natalie Anderson's exclusive LFW diary: Day 5

September 23, 2015

After all the madness of the last few days I had a little bit of down time yesterday and so decided to take myself off to the designer showrooms at the Brewer St Car Park and what a treat it was! There were clothes galore...I can only describe it as the biggest and best wardrobe ever!

Outfit of the day

As I knew my day wasn't going to be as hectic as the previous ones I decided to dress a little more practical in my black cigarette pants and black fitted polo neck accessorised with my black and cream leather T Bar shoes by italian shoe designer Ennio Mecozzi. I absolutely love these shoes as they are so comfortable and it seems I'm not alone as they were also recently seen on Amal Clooney as she gave an interview whilst working in Egypt.

When I arrived the first thing that struck me was how much emptier the streets were compared to the past few days as the blue skies disappeared in favour of rainy grey clouds. Nevertheless there was still an awful lot of activity at the designer showroom. I was actually amazed when I walked in to the showroom to find collections I'd watched in presentations earlier in the week being exhibited in the show space. For example it was wonderful to have watched the Zandra Rhodes presentation on Friday and and then actually be able to see snd touch the clothes today.

As much as I'd admired the collection on Friday, I was even more impressed when I saw it today as I was able to look more closely at the intricate detail used to create each piece. It was also lovely to have the opportunity to look at the work of emerging designers such as Cecile Bahnsen who, in this seasons collection used the inside of fake flowers to create 3D textures in her pieces.

My particular favourite was a lemon mini dress that almost looked tasselled due to Bahnsen's clever design.

I also got to meet the lovely Clio Peppiat whose presentation I'd also seen on Friday at the On/Off space. She was wearing one of my favourite designs from her presentation and it was so nice to chat with her about the inspiration behind her collection and to see her sense of humour for myself. She said I'd hit the nail on the head when I described her collection as Barbie Girl meets 60's Barbarella.

After chatting with Clio I then made my way to the Vielma London collection which was fantastic as id missed the presentation earlier in the week due to attending another show.

That's the thing I've found about fashion week, it's so hard to know what to attend as there are so many presentations happening at the same time. I loved this collection with its colour palette of midnight blue and gold and delicate star motifs.

My favourite piece was this gorgeous blue mini dress.

One of my other favourite collections from the exhibition was Holly Fulton's. Her use of colour and structure was fantastic. I loved the ruffle edges she'd used in her designs and the tropical turquoise and orange colour way.

Her bright orange tote was also a stand out piece, I wanted to walk away with it!

That was definitely the case with this collection with Rose embellished pvc coats, metallic minis and chunky platform sandals on display.

I also loved this playful floral mini dress with its bright colours, layered ruffles and delicate flower motif.

I loved being at the show room as it was a hive of activity with people drinking mini bottles of prosecco through a straw whilst browsing the collections to the music coming from the sunglass hut DJ or treating themselves to either a makeover at the Maybelline stand or new hairstyle at Toni and Guy.

Although the day was much slower paced than the previous it was actually really nice to be able to wander around and take everything in whilst looking at the beautiful clothes.

It's a much busier day again tomorrow as I'm having brunch with the lovely team at Jo Malone before heading off to watch the Christopher Raeburn and Toga catwalk shows.

See you then

Love Natalie Xx
