Katherine Jenkins shows off baby bump weeks before due date

September 28, 2015

Katherine Jenkins has been keeping a low-profile as she approaches her due date, but the mum-to-be happily showed off her growing baby bump in a photo posted on Facebook over the weekend. The Welsh singer was championing a cause close to her heart – the protection of rhinos – while also giving fans a pregnancy update.

Katherine, who is due to give birth in the next few weeks, held up a speech bubble sign that pointed to her unborn daughter. "I want to see a rhino when I grow up," it read.

The 35-year-old pleaded with fans to support the fight against poaching, writing: "At the current pace, rhinos will be extinct in the wild in 10 years... Please unite against poaching! Go to www.wildernessfoundationglobal.org for more info."

Katherine Jenkins announced her pregnancy in April 2015

Wilderness Foundation Global is a conservation group that focuses on the protection of wildlife including rhinos, elephants and marine species.

For the campaign, Katherine, who is married to film director Andrew Levitas, dressed her burgeoning bump in a tight black sleeveless top and trousers. The pretty blonde also sported a shorter hairdo that was neatly parted to the side.

The singer and her husband Andrew Levitas are expecting a baby girl

Katherine and her husband Andrew married at Hampton Court Palace on 27 September 2014 – on the same day that George and Amal Clooney tied the knot in Venice, Italy.

Katherine and her American beau had only dated for seven months before they said "I do" and in mid-April 2015, the singer announced she was expecting a little girl.

"Couldn't be more excited to meet our little girl! #MummyToBe #DaddyToBe #ArtProject #Collaboration #Family @andrewlevitas," the mezzo-soprano wrote on Instagram, alongside a photo of a pair of pink baby's shoes.

Both Katherine and Prince William support conservation and the fight against poaching

A month later Katherine and Andrew attended a special reception and dinner hosted by Prince William, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of wildlife charity Tusk Trust, of which the royal is a patron.

Speaking to the Prince, Katherine said: "My husband and I are very much into conservation. I have recently been to South Africa where I saw the rhinos and it was a life-changing experience – to see the whole team and what goes into protecting just one animal. It is something I feel incredibly passionate about and we should all be taking responsibility for."

The mum-to-be also described her pregnancy as an "incredibly exciting time".
