George Clooney has revealed how he and wife Amal celebrated their first wedding anniversary. The Hollywood star admitted he took a low-key approach to the event, joking that there was no need to make a big deal out of it because the couple would have plenty more anniversaries in the years to come. "We had our first-year anniversary two night ago," George told Extra's AJ Calloway while attending a special 15-year screening of his film O Brother, Where Art Thou at the New York Film Festival on Tuesday.

"I had to start off by (attending) a Jerry Weintraub event… and then afterwards she and I got to sneak out and have a dinner," he said.“That was it, just a little dinner?” AJ joked. "What are you gonna do, shoot off fireworks?" the Hollywood actor replied. "You know sometimes you just go to dinner."This is the paper anniversary you don’t want to go too crazy on the first, you know, you’ve got a lot more to do."

George married Amal on 27 September, 2014 in a star-studded wedding in Italy – the country where they first set eyes on each other. In the 12 months since, there's been nothing but highs for the couple. "We sure are having fun," the 54-year-old told People this week. "We had a beautiful anniversary, and we're having fun. "George has admitted one more than one occasion that Amal, who specialises in human rights and international law, is the "smart one" in their marriage. "She's an amazing human being," he told Entertainment Tonight back in May. "And she's caring. And she also happens to be one of the smartest people I've ever met. And she's got a great sense of humour."
