Robbie Williams has said he is "heartbroken and shocked" following the death of his pet dog Spencer. The Let Me Entertain You singer, whose wife Ayda Field had owned the dog since 2004, tweeted a sweet tribute to their pet on Facebook on Wednesday.
"Sad news guys, today we lost Spencer. Heartbroken and shocked. We love and miss you so much Spencer x" Robbie tweeted. The former Take That star then shared a touching video montage of the dog on social media, which showed the beloved pet playing, sleeping and joining Robbie on tour with the singer's cover of My Way playing in the background.
Attracting over one million views and 61,000 likes on Facebook, Robbie's heartfelt tribute attracted thousands of comments from fans sending their best wishes.
Spencer had clearly been a big part of Robbie and Ayda's life judging by the clips, which show him joining the star on a private jet and on stage as he prepares for his tour. Robbie had even set up a Twitter account under the name of '@goodboyspencer' for the dog, which had over 9,000 followers.
At the beginning of September Robbie had created a YouTube video dedicated to Spencer, explaining why he had chosen to bring him along on his Let Me Entertain You tour and admitting that the pet was his favourite of his and Ayda's nine dogs.
"They're all amazing in their own way, but I've always had a big heart melt for Spencer," Robbie said in the YouTube video, adding that they had recently noticed that Spencer was looking older and made sure they could get him on Robbie's most recent tour.
Luckily for the couple they will have reason to celebrate as they celebrate the first birthday of their son Charlton Valentine on 27 October. Their daughter Theodora Rose turned 3 in September.
