Jim Carrey has met with the family of his late girlfriend Cathriona White, following her apparent suicide earlier this week. The Hollywood star has been offering his support to Cathriona's mother and her sister Lisa – who visited him on Wednesday. "Jim has been at his Brentwood home for the past few days and Cathriona's sister visited him last night for an hour," a source confirmed to People.Lisa's visit came just a few hours after she and her mum arrived in LA to make arrangements to take Cathriona's body back home to Ireland. "It's a terrible journey for her mother to have to make," a close family friend said. "Everyone is hoping that her body can be returned home quickly now."

Jim, 53, and 30-year-old Catriona, a make-up artist, first met on a film set in 2012. They reportedly dated for most of 2013 before reuniting again earlier this year. In May, the couple were seen walking hand-in-hand in New York, but are believed to have just recently ended their relationship.On Tuesday, Jim issued an emotional statement saying he was "shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of my sweet Cathriona"."She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled," he said.

Her family have also spoken publicly of their loss. "Cathriona was a shining light in our lives who was loved deeply by her entire family," they said in a statement. "We will miss her terribly and at this difficult time we ask to be left in private to mourn our loss. There will be no further statements on behalf of the family."
