Tom Hanks was probably inspired to do the good deed after a stranger returned his credit card

The episode began when she lost her card while jogging. Sharing a picture of the card on social media, Tom wrote: "Lauren! I found your student ID in the park. If you still need it my office will get it back to you. Hanx"

Lauren is now hoping the kind-hearted star will agree to meet her in person to return the ID.Tom appears to have been inspired by a good Samaritan who went out of his way to return his credit card earlier this year.

"A guy named Tony found my credit card on the street in NYC and returned it!" he tweeted at the time. "Tony! You make this city even greater! Thanx. HANX."

The Forrest Gump actor has had a challenging time in his personal life this year. His 25-year-old son Chet recently opened up about his fight to beat drug addiction, leading Tom to praise his bravery.

Meanwhile, Tom has been supporting his wife of 27 years Rita Wilson through her cancer battle. Luckily, he was recently able to tell fans that her "health is fantastic" after the actress had a double mastectomy and breast reconstruction.

Rita later said the way her husband reacted was amazing. "Who knew it would make you even closer?" she told The New York Times. "You never know how your spouse is going to react in a situation like this. I was so amazed, so blown away by the care my husband gave me. It was such a normal, intimate time."
