Professor Green: 'I won’t have children yet' with Millie Mackintosh

Professor Green has opened up about having children with wife Millie Mackintosh. The rapper, whose real name is Stephen Manderson, revealed that he and his wife of two years have put their plans to have a family on hold as he is still coming to terms with the death of his father Peter Manderson.After struggling with depression for some time the performer’s dad tragically took his own life. Understandably the 31-year-old still struggles to deal with the loss and also fears that he may follow the path of his late father.

In a very honest documentary the Read All About It singer said: "I think there’s a genetic link with depression and suicide. My dad did it and his brother did it.""I haven’t yet had [those] thoughts although there have been a lot of dark, difficult days over the years," he admitted.Continuing he said: "I felt it was right to take precautions by going to therapy and trying to fix myself, because – being happily married – children are the next logical step. But I can’t escape the fact that I am a product of my dad and I don’t want to pass this on."

Despite his struggles the star's supportive wife Millie Mackintosh, heiress to the Quality Street confectionary fortune, insists that he will be a wonderful father.

Giving an insight into their relationship Professor Green said: "We’ve been married two years, but I’ve always kept [my dad’s suicide] out of our relationship. There was one time early on when my nan brought out my embarrassing childhood pictures and we came across one of me and my dad, and I burst into tears. But it is not up to Millie to fix me. Only I can do that. "In order to raise awareness about the signs and symptoms of depression Stephen got involved with a BBC project to show how the mental health problem can take a hold and affect loved ones.
