Kim Kardashian's husband Kanye West threw her a surprise birthday party with the kind of crazy creative twist only he could have come up with. The rap star invited all her friends and family to dress up as 'pregnant Kim' as a humourous reference to the fact that she's expecting their second child, with fake bumps provided on arrival.
The celebration also served as a baby shower given that Kim cancelled her original one to support her sister Khloé with the vigil at the bedside of her estranged husband Lamar Odom after his drug overdose.
The couple have now called off their divorce and the basketball player seems to have begun a slow recovery. So Kim felt freer to let her hair down and have some fun.
After the quirky party, Kim told her followers: "Not sure if that was to make me feel less huge or just a fun cool theme but I loved it & had the best time ever, feeling so very comfortable eating churros with a bunch of pregnant women! Just what I needed, the perfect chill yummy food birthday!!!!"
It kicked off at 3pm in a California cinema where guests then watched the new Steve Jobs movie. Well-wishers helping Kim turn 35 in style on October 21 included the TV family matriarch Kris Jenner and her ex Caitlyn Jenner, formerly Bruce before her transition, who looked stylish in a Herve Leger bandage dress.

Also on hand were their daughters Kylie, 18, and Kendall, 19. Kylie, who arrived with her 25-year-old boyfriend Tyga, was cheekily wearing her padding in her derriere in a joke about Kim's famous asset.
Meanwhile, their mother had invited along her beau of one year, Corey Gamble, who at 33 is 34 years her junior.
Someone who wouldn't have missed the party for the world was Kim's big sister Kourtney. Having had her third child Reign ten months ago she joked about the dress code: "I wasn't expecting to look this way again quite yet".
Earlier in the day she shared an Instagram picture of the pair as teenagers describing the birthday girl as "my partner for life" adding: " We always seem to end up on the craziest adventures together."
