Katie Piper will be presented with a very special award from Eva Longoria at the upcoming Global Gift Gala next month. The acid attack survivor and philanthropist will receive the Global Gift Humanitarian Award at the sixth annual ceremony on Monday 30 November.

Katie, who set up the charity The Katie Piper Foundation in 2009 following her brutal attack, said that she was "honoured" to be chosen as this year's recipient.

"To be recognised in this way allows The Katie Piper Foundation to receive international recognition as a charity that really can make a difference to people's lives," Katie, 32, said in a statement.

"I have always respected Eva Longoria's philanthropic work and I look forward to meeting with her and discussing my work."

Each year the award is given to someone who has shown commitment, dedication and achievement as a world-renowned entrepreneur and philanthropist.

Katie is a fitting choice; her charity works to help people living who have burns and scars reconnect with their lives and their communities, and Katie's vision is a world where scars do not limit a person's function, social inclusion or sense of well-being.

The mum-of-one has had support from various celebrities including Simon Cowell, who is patron of her charity.

Earlier this year Katie received special recognition at the Pride of Britain Award and her documentary Katie: My Beautiful Face, which described her remarkable story, was nominated for Best Single Documentary at the BAFTA Television Awards in 2010.

Katie's personal life is also going from strength to strength. The blonde beauty is set to marry her fiancé James Sutton soon, after getting engaged to the father of her child last December.

Last month Katie was given a send-off by Alan Carr as she attended the comedian's stand-up show in London. The bride-to-be donned a sheer white dress and accessorised with a white garter and veil, captioning the Instagram photo of herself: "Kiss the miss goodbye."
