James Franco may well be Emma Watson's biggest fan considering his latest inking. The actor, who co-starred with Emma in 2013 comedy This is the End, shared an image showing off a new piece of body art – the actress' face and name on his neck.
The 37-year-old captioned the black-and-white portrait: "I love Hermione," referring to her name in the Harry Potter franchise. He added a credit to his tattoo artist Cheyenne Randall.
James Franco unveiled an unusual 'tattoo' of Emma Watson on Wednesday
While the tattoo caused shock among James' fans, with many commenting to say, "This can't be real" – it appears the unusual body art is not permanent. Cheyenne is an artist who specialises in photoshopping fake tattoos onto images of celebrities including Marilyn Monroe, Cara Delevingne and Winona Ryder.
The artist shared James' image on his own Instagram account, adding the hashtag "shoppedtattoos", appearing to confirm that it is not real.
Along with the portrait of Emma, James also shows off a series of other temporary inkings, including a cross on his right ear and a huge eagle and stars across his chest.
James and Emma were co-stars in comedy This is the End in 2013
Emma is yet to comment on James' bizarre declaration of love for her Harry Potter character, but may well be flattered by praise from her former co-star. Instead the 25-year-old appears to be focused on her HeForShe campaign for the United Nations. She has shared a number of messages about the progress that is being made with the initiative encouraging men to support women's equality around the world.
If the Harry Potter star is indeed the object of James' affection he is likely to be disappointed. Emma has recently been linked to actor Roberto Aguire. Reports have suggested that their long-term friendship has developed into a relationship after they were spotted enjoying a lunch date together.
