George Clooney talks about his dog Einstein's beautiful life

November 2, 2015

Before marrying his beautiful wife, George Clooney shared his life with two pets named Einstein and Louis. He has spoken about cocker spaniel Einstein for a book called Old Dogs: Rescue Pets with Remarkable Second Acts.

The actor's canine companion came to him aged five and obese in 2010. He was due to be put down if no owner could be found for him. Luckily George preferred to have an older pet than a puppy that he would have had to train. "Einstein was housetrained and had a great attitude. Age doesn't matter," he said.

Now the cocker spaniel lives a jet-set life, accompanying the Oscar-winning star all over the globe. He has often spent time at the silver fox's Lake Como mansion, prompting the star to joke that he has "grown to love Italian food".

Last week George and Amal opened up their home to another rescue dog, a basset hound named Millie.

To make sure Millie would fit in with their two other pets, the supercouple had brought along Louie, also a cocker spaniel like Einstein. The introductions seemed to go along smoothly enough and the Clooneys took her home with them immediately.

It's not known whether George repeated a trick he used with Einstein to make sure Millie would welcome him and Amal with open arms. The Gravity star previously revealed that he rubbed himself with meat so that the inspector from the shelter would get the impression the dog had really taken to him.

He told Esquire magazine: "I start to panic that Einstein is not going to like me. So I run into the kitchen, where I have these turkey meatballs, and I rub them all over my shoes.

"He throws himself at my feet and (the lady from the shelter) leaves him with me on the spot. He loves me. I can do no wrong. He follows me everywhere."
