David Beckham is on the third leg of his football challenge around seven continents, promoting his charity work with UNICEF. The dad-of-four has been taking part in local matches and in Djibouti, located on the Horn of Africa, David took the opportunity to make his first visit to a refugee camp.

The former England football captain, 40, shared a picture of himself bonding with a family at the camp. David was seen holding a little girl in his lap while her relatives crowded around.

The athlete was visiting the Ali Addeh camp, which is home to over 10,000 refugees from Ethiopia, Eritrea and Somalia, to see how UNICEF is providing life-saving vaccines to protect children from preventable diseases.

"This is the first time I have visited a refugee camp," said David

He shared another sweet picture of a child peeking out from behind a piece of corrugated iron, and captioned it: "Peekaboo @unicef."

"This is the first time I have visited a refugee camp," said David, who launched the 7: The David Beckham UNICEF Fund earlier this year.

"It's shocking to see how children's lives can be turned upside down as a result of conflict and violence and as a father it breaks my heart to see children living in such difficult circumstances."

"As a father it breaks my heart to see children living in such difficult circumstances," he added

"All children, no matter where they live, deserve a fair chance in life," he said. "With the support of my Fund, UNICEF is making sure that children in Djibouti, including child refugees, get the vital vaccinations and medical care they need to protect them from preventable diseases so they can grow up healthy and strong."

Before playing his charity match in Djibouti, the former Manchester United star had to clear a herd of goats off the makeshift football pitch.

The sporting hero is taking part in seven matches in seven continents

He posted an artsy black-and-white shot, writing: "Beautiful landscape just before the game... This was a first having to clear the goats off the pitch... Met some amazing people in Djibouti ... Great to see the amazing work UNICEF are doing on the ground... @unicef #loveofthegame."

David is on a mission to complete seven charity matches in seven different continents; his trip will culminate with an emotional return to Old Trafford on Saturday 14 November where he will captain a Great Britain and Ireland line-up against a Rest of the World team led by Zinedine Zidane. The Match for Children will raise awareness and vital funds for his UNICEF Fund.

David's first match took him to Papua New Guinea, while his second game happened in Nepal.
