Cristiano Ronaldo and son make red carpet appearance at film premiere

November 10, 2015

It was a family affair at the premiere of Cristiano Ronaldo's new film on Monday evening. The Real Madrid footballer was joined by his mother Maria Dolores Aveiro and son Cristiano Ronaldo Jr on the red carpet in London's Leicester Square.

Cristiano looked dapper for his big night in a midnight blue tuxedo and bow tie, while his five-year-old son was equally smart in a pinstripe suit and tie. The father-son duo cuddled up for photos together before joining the footballer's mum to enter the cinema.

It was not only Cristiano's family who turned out to show their support to his new documentary film; the 30-year-old was also joined by an array of celebrities and colleagues, including his former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson for the special occasion.

Cristiano's documentary offers a rare and candid glimpse into his private life, including his close bond with both his son and mother. The three-time Ballon d'Or winner allowed cameras to follow him around for a year from January 2014 until early 2015 for the project, which was directed by Anthony Wonke and executive produced by Asif Kapadia, who directed the award-winning documentary Amy about Amy Winehouse.

The Portuguese footballer also had another reason to celebrate at the premiere as he was awarded a Guinness World Record for being the "most liked person on Facebook in the world", with over 107 million fans following his updates on the social media site. However while Cristiano has achieved great success and popularity throughout his career, he says he is something of a loner, like his father who died when he was 20.

"My father was also a solitary person. I am probably quite family minded, I suppose," he told Spanish news agency EFE. "That doesn't mean I don't have friends. Of course, I do but I have four or five real friends. That's normal for me and I like it that way."
