Busted have said they can't believe the incredible response they received after announcing that Charlie Simpson is joining the band for a reunion tour. Charlie, who quit the band in 2005, said he decided to reunite with his former bandmates after they slowly rekindled their friendship over the last three years.Talking during an interview on ITV's Good Morning Britain, Charlie explained: "James and Matt came round to mine about three years ago and we hadn’t seen each other for eight years...The reason that we’ve taken this long is that I wasn’t ready to do this again for a long time.

Busted have announced a reunion tour in 2016

"Us rekindling our friendship and getting to a creative common ground is what we wanted to do. We went to Philadelphia in July to get into the studio to start working on some new stuff. It felt really good and the new songs are really exciting."

Charlie also said that the newly reformed band are hoping to release new music before embarking on their tour in May.

"It’s different to any of the stuff we've done before. It's really good. The tour starts in May, we are hoping to have a new track out before then."

Busted split in 2005 when Charlie Simpson left the band

Charlie's decision to reunite with his former bandmates comes after Matt Willis and James Bourne achieved huge success as part of McBusted. Despite growing a huge fan base over the last couple of years, Matt admitted they were still unsure of the response they would get from a Busted reunion.

"It's a bit of an unsure thing, you hope that people will be into it. We announced it yesterday and we didn't expect the response we've had," Matt explained. "We were hoping it would be a big deal but it's been amazing, the response has been huge. We're stoked."

James added: "We had a really good time being back in the studio again and the enjoyment we're getting out of it is amazing for us. We hope that people want to come and see us have fun on stage."

The duo also said they will be putting McBusted, their supergroup with McFly on hold while they focus on making their comeback.

"For the time being, we’re kind of putting that on hold," Matt said. "The good thing about McBusted is that it was something cool that just happened. So I don't feel like that has to finish or anything has to stop or end, we are just doing our thing.

"Right now we're in Busted and that's what we are focused on, McFly are still a band."
