Cheryl Fernandez-Versini's husband Jean-Bernard has spoken of his love for his pop star wife after whispers about their 16-month marriage. The French restaurateur told Instagram followers that he put his "life on the line" for Cheryl and if they have been spending time apart it is because of his business. He is thought to have been travelling lately to find new locations for his ventures.
Cheryl and Jean-Bernard leave Ant and Dec's 40th birthday in October
His post read:"I normally don’t read or comment... But the truth is that even when my dad died I put my life on the line for my wife.
"Yes I am working like everybody else to put food on the table but my priority is my wife as this is the last person that is family."
He added: "This is just nonsense. What matters is family and my wife is my only one left so if she need me I am always going to be there. My wife Cheryl is my priority nothing else."
JB couldn't be there when Cheryl attended her friend Nicola's 30th birthday
The couple have faced a testing time recently after the death of JB's dad. Cheryl, 32, felt forced to speak out amid comments about her slim frame, saying she had lost weight because of mourning her father-in-law. Her loyal spouse also hit back at negative remarks by saying: "She is the most beautiful woman on the planet".
Detractors then made much of the fact that JB has missed events such as the Pride of Britain awards, her friend Nicola Roberts' 30th birthday party and the Music Industry Trusts gala honouring her boss Simon Cowell.
The 35-year-old was also absent from a crucial episode of the X Factor – the Judges House show – during which his wife and her colleagues presented their final choices for their teams.
In his post, the dashing businessman said he has been in London "for a week", adding: "If she needs me on X Factor I will be there like I always did in the past."
Cheryl seems stronger and more content than ever since marrying
However, the pair made an appearance together at Ant and Dec's 40th birthday party, where JB was attentiveness itself, escorting his wife tenderly with an arm around her. At the end of the evening he gave her his dinner jacket because it was chilly.
The couple are also putting down roots together, having reportedly bought a six-bedroom mansion worth £5 million recently.
They got married in a romantic secret wedding on 7 July, 2014 three months after meeting in Cannes, where the Frenchman ran the pop up Cosy Box nightclub.
Asked soon after if Cheryl was learning his language, JB showed some of the cheeky charm that captured her heart, replying: "My English is better than her French but I teach her the words. Mainly the bad words! She teaches me the Geordie."
