Khloé Kardashian is suffering from a staph infection which she contracted in the hospital that Lamar Odom, who suffered a stroke and fell into a coma in October, is hospitalised in. She was diagnosed with the bacterial infection after noticing lumps on her lower body.

"She's home on antibiotics and being closely monitored by a doctor," a source told People, who revealed that she contracted the infection from being by Lamar's hospital bedside, "but it was exacerbated by stress."

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star, who has decided to call off her divorce with Lamar, threw him a 36th birthday party in hospital in November and spent a lot of time caring for him, leading to her contracting the infection and no longer being able to visit him. The source said: "She is so frustrated by the fact that she was doing something good and then THIS happens."

Another source added: "She just needs some medication and some rest and she will be fine. She's under a doctor's care and they are happy with how she is progressing."

The reality TV star, who is now dating the Houston Rockets basketball player James Harden, apologised to her Twitter fans as she had to cancel book signings due to her illness.

She added: "I'm very sorry again. Stress can run our bodies down so please everyone take care of yourselves."

The 31-year-old spoke in defence of her relationship with James Harden after Twitter users accused her of not honouring her wedding vows with Lamar.

One Twitter follower with the username @juanitoo95 wrote to the star: "You can't be with Harden and still be married fam, gotta chose one." Leading another Twitter user to add: "For better or worse sickness and health till death to them part. I'm with you she needs to pick one or the ou."

However, Khloé defended her actions, saying: "You should have said those to the man who went against all our vows. Judge yourself...Divorce is still going forward." She added: "Doesn't mean I won't be there through sickness and health. I've proven that."

Lamar, 36, suffered mental and physical injuries, however, his estranged wife told chat show host Ellen DeGeneres that the NBA star is learning to walk but has a long way to go in his recovery.

The star said: "Cognitively there is a lot...it's a long long road ahead. He couldn't put words together today. But he understands. He's really confused a lot we have to remind him. Every day is different."
