One Direction: 'We're all single'

November 20, 2015

One Direction have delighted thousands of fans around the world after confirming they are all single. The Perfect singers spoke about their love lives during an interview on ITV's The Jonathan Ross show.

The television presenter questioned the four-piece about their relationships, asking: "What's happening in your love lives at the moment? Who's single, who's mingled, who's looking for a pringle? You're all single aren't you?"

The band agreed: "We're all single, yeah."

The group's single status is a recent change, as Liam Payne previously dated Sophia Smith for two years until they parted ways in October. The 22-year-old is reportedly "incredibly sad" about the split but is focusing on keeping busy ahead of the band's hiatus in 2016.

Liam is not the only bandmate to go through a break-up this year; Louis Tomlinson split from his long-term girlfriend Eleanor Calder in March, and has since gone on to confirm that he is expecting his first child with celebrity stylist Briana Jungwirth after they met through mutual friends.

The 23-year-old said he was "buzzing" about the news, and has even received some parenting advice from Simon Cowell, who said he told Louis to embrace being a father.

While Harry Styles and Niall Horan are both currently single, many fans have questioned whether the group's most recent single Perfect was written about Harry's ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift – something which Jonathan Ross also enquired about.

"Okay, I didn't know that was the speculation," Harry replied. "I'd say I think everyone writes from personal experience and I think you draw from lots of different things and songs aren't always necessarily about what people may take them to be about, sometimes they are."
