Mark Zuckerberg reveals plans for 2 month paternity leave

Mark Zuckerberg is planning to be a hands on father. The Facebook founder, who is expecting a baby girl with his wife Priscilla Chan, revealed that he is planning to take two months paternity leave to bond with his daughter when she is born.

Calling it "a very personal decision", the dad-to-be explained his choice alongside a Facebook picture of his pet dog Beast alongside a yellow baby seat and pushchair, writing: "Priscilla and I are starting to get ready for our daughter's arrival. We've been picking out our favourite childhood books and toys.

"We've also been thinking about how we're going to take time off during the first months of her life. This is a very personal decision, and I've decided to take two months of paternity leave when our daughter arrives.

"Studies show that when working parents take time to be with their newborns, outcomes are better for the children and families."

He continued: "Every day things are getting a little more real for us, and we're excited to start this next stage in our lives."

Mark announced that he and Priscilla were expecting their first child together on Facebook in July, and has since gone on to celebrate their upcoming arrival with a surprise baby shower organised by some of his students.

Mark Zuckerberg says he will take two months paternity leave

The 31-year-old shared some photos from inside the intimate event, explaining alongside: "Students I mentor in the community threw me and Cilla a surprise baby shower! So much love and so much fun."

The collection of photos show the couple joining in party games, and posing together in front of a baby shower sign, with Cilla's baby bump clearly visible. Another shot shows Mark – wearing a pink dummy necklace - toasting his wife's pregnancy with some of his friends, all of them drinking from baby bottles.Mark and Cilla were also presented with a handmade blanket for their baby girl, featuring pink love hearts and a pink trim.

The couple, who tied the knot in 2012, have not revealed when their baby girl is due.
