Adele will get the chance to say Hello to some of her biggest fans in 2016 after announcing her first tour dates in five years. The Someone Like You singer will embark on a 36-date tour across the UK and Europe, starting in Belfast at the end of February.

Announcing the news on Twitter, Adele shared a video of herself standing in front of a map on the wall. "I've been bluffing this whole time and I'm so relieved to finally tell you of course I am coming on tour and I can't wait to see all of you there," she said.

Tickets for the in demand live shows will go on general sale on 4 December, however members of the singer's official website will receive access to a UK presale on Tuesday 1 December, and an EU presale on Wednesday 2 December.

Adele last went on tour in 2011, but was forced to cancel her US dates after having to undergo throat surgery. The Oscar-winning star recently said she found the idea of going on tour again quite lonely, but didn't rule it out completely.

"There is something quite lonely about going on stage in front of loads of people and then everyone going home," she told BBC Radio 1's Nick Grimshaw. "It sounds really silly. I'm sure they would hang out with me, if I invited them back to my hotel, but I feel quite on my own a lot on tour."

It appears the singer's fears are unfounded as she has proved her global popularity after securing the best-selling album of the year. Adele's third album 25 was released on Friday by XL Recordings and according to Nielsen, the company that tracks music sales, it had already shifted 2.3 million copies by Monday morning.

Adele also broke the record for the most viewed video in 24 hours on Vevo. Hello totalled more than 27.7 million views on its first day, smashing Taylor's record of 20.1 million views for Bad Blood earlier this year.
