Liv Tyler made the right decision when she and partner Dave Gardner elected best friend David Beckham to be their son Sailor's godfather. It seems the former England footballer is quite generous when it comes to treating his godson to presents.
Speaking on ITV's The Jonathan Ross Show, the brunette beauty said: "He is very sweet, he gives very good presents. And he’s a real gentleman, he’s a very elegant person so very sweet… He loves being a father."
Liv, Dave, David and Sailor enjoyed lunch together
The American actress also spoke about the mix of work and family life, saying: "I’m working and I have the baby, I was filming The Leftovers which is the show that I’ve been working on and about three months after I had him, I had to go right back to work and we originally last season shot in New York which was very convenient for me to be a good mother and be an actress and they relocated us to Austin, Texas so he came with me."
The happy couple welcomed little Sailor six weeks earlier than predicted in February and they quickly decided that David would be a "great influence" for their newborn.
David has taken to his role of godfather with pride
Since then, the father-of-four has taken to his role with ease, spending time bonding with his godson whenever he can. Liv has even shared sweet snaps of them together on her Instagram showing the footballer, her fiancé and their son enjoying lunch.
It seems the doting parents made the right choice as a source told The Sun: "Becks and Dave are close pals and go back years. They speak to each other all the time and their families are well connected. They were best men for each other's weddings so are involved in their major events.
"Dave knows Becks will always be a great influence for his kids. He's the perfect choice." The football agent has been close friends with David since they met at a Manchester United training pitch in 1991. Dave is also godfather to David and Victoria Beckham's son Brooklyn – a role he shares with Sir Elton John.
