Andy Murray leads Great Britain to victory in Davis Cup

Andy Murray celebrated the most emotional win of his career after driving Great Britain to a Davis Cup victory for the first time since 1936. The British number one beat Belgium's David Goffin in straight sets to secure the trophy for his team, giving them a 3-1 lead in the best-of-five match final.Andy collapsed to the ground after his winning backhand lob, and was immediately surrounded by his team mates, who piled on top of him in celebration.

"It's an amazing feeling. I imagine it will take a few days before it really sinks in," 28-year-old Andy said. "I've been pretty upset having lost matches before but I would say that's probably the most emotional I've been after a win. "It's incredible that we managed to win this competition. I didn't know that would ever be possible. It's great."

Making the win all the more significant for Andy, he was playing alongside his elder brother Jamie Murray; the team also included captain Leon Smith, Kyle Edmund and James Ward.Britain have now won the Davis Cup – the tennis version of the Wold Cup – ten times in total. Andy can add that accolade to his already impressive list of achievements, including his wins at Wimbledon, the Olympic Games and the US Open.

Among those cheering on team GB – and Andy in particular – was his proud wife Kim, who is around six months pregnant with their first child. The couple confirmed in August that they were expecting a baby together, and the mum-to-be could be seen laughing and smiling in the stands as she watched her husband make sporting history once again.
