Police were called to the home and have begun an investigation into the robbery. A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police confirmed the burglary and said: "Police were called to an address in W14…to reports of a burglary in progress. Officers attended the scene but the suspects had left the area. Inquiries continue [and there have been] no arrests. "This incident comes at a bad time for the reality TV judge who is gearing up for this Saturday’s X Factor semi-final. Only hours after reporting the break-in Simon headed to rehearsals to watch over the acts and his fellow judges as they prepared for their performances.

As well as being an inconvenience for Simon, this incident will have left him and his family very shaken up. The music producer and his girlfriend have been very private and protective about their 21-month-old son Eric and will no doubt be increasing their security detail in and around their house.
This isn't the first time that Simon’s house has been targeted by thieves. In 2012, 30-year-old Leanne Zaloumis smashed a window with a brick and entered the father-of-one’s house. The owner was at home at the time watching television when he heard a "loud bang" coming from his bathroom and called the authorities.
The intruder was discovered inside a walk-in wardrobe. She later pleaded guilty to breaking and entering and was given a community order.
