Kristin Cavallari thanks fans for their support after her brother is reported missing

Kristin Cavallari has thanked fans for their support after it emerged her older brother Michael has been reported missing. The mum-of-three took to Instagram to share a throwback photo of herself and her brother as children, as she revealed she was still "hopeful" that he would be found.

"I appreciate all the concern, thoughts, and prayers that have been extended to me and my family," Kristin wrote. "We remain hopeful and I will share any news that we receive. I have such gratitude for all those that have shared their support."

Michael hasn't been seen since 27 November – the day after Thanksgiving – when his car was found abandoned on a highway in Grand County, Utah.According to the Grand Country Sheriff's department, Michael's 2014 Honda Civic was discovered five miles south of exit 175. Authorities searched the area but could not locate the driver. The Deseret News reported that the engine was still running and the car's airbags had been deployed.

The car was registered to Michael, who lives in Clemente, California, and police said credit card transactions and surveillance footage last places him at a convenience store in Monticello, Utah.Police have said they are treating it as an active missing person investigation. "We're combing the area for anything we can find," Grand County Sheriff Steven White told the newspaper. "We're deeming it suspicious, but there's nothing to indicate one way or another. The vehicle was just abandoned. "Several news outlets identified Michael as the brother of former Hills star Kristin, 28, and the brother-in-law of Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler.

The news comes two weeks after Kristin and Jay welcomed their daughter Saylor

On 29 November, two days after Michael's disappearance, Kristin posted on Instagram about missing out on the 10 year reunion for Laguna Beach High School because she was busy looking after her new baby daughter Saylor James, who was born on 23 November.Kristin and Jay are also parents to two little boys; Camden, three and one-year-old Jaxon.Kristin rose to fame in 2004 as a star on the reality show Laguna Beach, followed by The Hills, alongside stars including Lauren Conrad, Brody Jenner, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt.
