Gwyneth Paltrow paid tribute to her old friend Rob Lowe as he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Tuesday. The Iron Man star, who has been friends with Rob since she was 17, gave a speech about the actor during his Walk of Fame ceremony on Hollywood Boulevard.
The actress recalled how Rob and his wife Sheryl took her under their wing when she first moved to Hollywood, adding that she they are now so close they are like "siblings". Rob was clearly appreciative of Gwyneth's support and shared a photo of them together before the ceremony on Twitter, writing: "Pre-ceremony hug with the Great @GwynethPaltrow #HollywoodWalkofFame."

However it was the support of his family that the actor appeared most touched by, as he suggested his success wouldn't have been possible without them in another social media post. Sharing a photo of himself with his wife Sheryl and their two sons, John and Matthew, kneeling next to his star, Rob wrote: "Nothing is possible without family."
In his speech as his star was unveiled, Rob said he was "humbled and grateful" to be part of America's greatest export to the rest of the world – films and television.

Rob said: "It's so extraordinary to me that these characters have been embraced for four decades. To those who have enjoyed my work, this star is an emblem of our long journey together. Without your support, none of it would have been a possibility."
The Grinder star also said it had always been his childhood dream to become a Hollywood actor.
"When I was a little boy I was living in Dayton, Ohio, and I dreamed of one day finding my way to Hollywood to be an actor," Rob explained. "And if you would have told me back then that I would be alongside Clark Gable, Humphrey Bogart, Paul Newman, I never ever would have believed it."
