At the age of six Jake Dooley had almost given up hope of becoming a big brother. He had made it no secret to his parents that he wanted a little brother or sister to play with, so when his mum revealed she was pregnant it was almost too much for the young Irish boy.
After giving birth to a still born baby three years ago, Jake’s parents, Teresa and Tommy, had begun to try again for a child but had warned their son that it may not be possible.
Jake was overwhelmed when he heard the happy news
The video that has received over 400,000 hits was originally recorded to reveal the news to the Dooley’s friends and family. In the video, named 'Dreams really can come true!!!', Teresa gives her son a series of cards to read out. "I know that you have been wishing and praying for this a long time now," says the first card. "I’m sorry I took so long to get here," he reads, "But I’m here now. Look at your t-shirt." Confused Jake looks down at his top and doesn’t understand what is going on until his mum presents him with a new top that says 'This boy is going to be a big brother.'"You’re pregnant?" says the little boy in shock before running to embrace his mum and bursting into tears. "I’m so happy," he repeats sobbing unable to comprehend the happy news.

Although they were aware that Jake wanted to be an older brother, his parents admitted that even they were shocked by his surprise and happiness. Speaking to People magazine Teresa said: "We knew that he’d be happy but we never expected this reaction. I don’t think his father or I knew how much he really wanted this."
