Rob Kardashian is recovering at home after being hospitalised on Sunday. According to TMZ, Kris Jenner's son was taken to a Los Angeles hospital after feeling unwell during the Christmas holidays.

Following a series of tests, the 28-year-old has been diagnosed with diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), which can be caused by high blood glucose levels and if left untreated, the condition can lead to a diabetic coma.

Thankfully, DKA is usually avoidable. According to Diabetes UK, "making sure you always take your insulin in the right amounts for your food and activity patterns and keeping a good check on your blood glucose levels and will help you to avoid episodes which are both life-disrupting and life-threatening."

A source close to the family told TMZ that if Rob starts leading a "healthy lifestyle," he can get his diabetes, which is type 2, under control and potentially have it go into remission.

Days before Christmas, sisters Khloé Kardashian and Kourtney Kardashian hinted at Rob's struggles when they sent him supportive messages on Instagram.

Khloé posted a throwback photo of them together, writing: "If only you could see yourself through my eyes! I'll forever be obsessed with you! My one and only! #MyAce."

Another quote shared by the 31-year-old read: "Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind. Always."

Kourtney Kardashian also reached out to her brother on social media by sharing an old photo of them holding hands as they walked down the street together. "Bobby," she wrote, adding a heart emoticon.

Rob's family have made no secret of their concern for him as he continues to shy away from the public eye, with Khloé telling People in October that it was "infuriating" to see him struggle.

"He's such a great guy. That's also what's so infuriating," Khloé said. "He's charming, charismatic, everything. But I'm like, where is your will to live? Where is your will to live life? Let's be around people!"
