Jordin Sparks and Tony Bennett lead celebrity tributes to Natalie Cole

Since her passing on Thursday, celebrities have been paying tribute to singer Natalie Cole, 65. The daughter of Nat ‘King’ Cole, who best known for her songs Unforgettable, a duet with her father, Inseparable and This Will Be, passed away in Los Angeles due to a compilation of on-going health issues.American singer Jordin Sparks was one of the first to pay her respects to the late star. Taking to her Instagram page the Battlefield singer wrote: "I am so sad to hear about Natalie Cole’s passing… She was always so kind & exuded so much grace. Rest in everlasting love. I’m sure the heavens are absolutely loving you and your dad rejoicing together. 'Unforgettable in every way…' That you are, Natalie, that you are."

Natalie Cole passed away on Thursday at the age 65

Fly Me To The Moon singer Tony Bennett also took to Instagram to express his upset after hearing the sad news. "I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Natalie Cole, as I have cherished the long friendship I had with her, her father Nat, and the family over the years," he said, adding "Natalie was an exceptional jazz singer and it was an honor to have recorded and performed with her on several occasions. She was a lovely and generous person who will be greatly missed."

A statement released by Natalie’s son read: "Natalie fought a fierce, courageous battle, dying how she lived…with dignity, strength and honour. Our beloved mother and sister will be greatly missed and remain unforgettable in our hearts. "Other celebrities such as Kristen Chenoweth, Lenny Kravitz and Vivica A Fox shared their stories and sadness about thepassing of the Grammy Award winner.
