On learning of her ex-husband David Bowie's unexpected death at the weekend, Celebrity Big Brother participant Angie Bowie broke down emotionally. As it was reported that the iconic singer had been quietly cremated without any fanfare, the actress discussed with the other housemates how their marriage broke down.
Angie, now 66, was asked by Nancy Dell' Olio if she left the star, to which she responded: "I certainly did. I marched. Yeah".

The couple met in 1969 when she was 19, marrying a year later. Their son Duncan was born in May 1971. Angie toured the world with the singer continually during his Ziggy Stardust era and he wrote several songs for her.
When she ended the marriage after ten years in 1980, Duncan stayed with David. Sadly, mother and son have been estranged for years.
Explaining why she didn't seek custody, Angie commented: "I didn't not want custody. It was just I was never going to take him away from his father because they were tight as can be, it was just one of those things."

During the heart-to-heart in Celebrity Big Brother, another housemate Gemma Collins tried to comfort her about her family situation.
"My dream for you is that your son gets in contact with you," Gemma said to her. Angie replied: "Oh no, thank you though, I appreciate it."
Nancy then asked: 'You're not in contact with your son? Sorry I missed this. How long has it been?"
"30... 28 years, it's been a long time. He's a grown man, it's different now. He decided he didn't want to see me and that was that, no problem."

After the breakdown of their union, David went on to find happiness with supermodel Iman. The birth of their daughter Alexandria in 2000, introduced exclusively in the pages of HELLO!, gave him renewed contentment.
Angie, meanwhile, had a relationship with punk musician Drew Blood, the father of her daughter Stacia.
